The Andalucían inspiration behind Emma’s 2019 Cruise Collection

The Andalucían inspiration behind Emma’s 2019 Cruise Collection

Andalucía is full of drama. The Sierra Nevada mountain range tumbles into ornate cities. The mixed architectural styles speak of a place at the volatile border between the ancient Christian and Islamic empires. It is a land of passionate guitarists, flamenco dancers and the heady smell of orange blossom.

Little wonder, then, that Emma found inspiration for her new collection on a recent trip to the South of Spain. She came to this part for the world for her brother’s wedding, in a private compound nestled against the backdrop of the Sierra Nevada mountains. The exclusive setting was flooded with inspiring details, from the romance of the red and white roses to the colourful dresses of the guests.

But inspiration also came from the rich history of the area. The region is unique because of its Arabic palaces which, much like Emma’s designs, are characterised by an extreme care for detail. These palaces are like jewellery boxes, with simple facades concealing the opulence of colour, pattern and luxury within. The Alhambra is the most famous example of this breath-taking style of architecture, with its maze of corridors leading to ornate courtyards and secret gardens. These elements are magic in their elegance and intricacy - even more so when you consider that they have survived the turbulent history of Andalucía.

Each Emma Pake collection has a unique and distinctive theme. For Emma Pake’s Cruise Collection 2019, the colours, patterns and passion of Andalucía are stitched into every piece.
